Neighbourhood Watch and PropertyVAULT teamed up in 2021 over their shared goal to help people protect their property and valuables from theft and make it easier to return stolen property to them.

Since launching in 2015, PropertyVAULT has helped police and theft victims recover hundreds of stolen bikes and other property, valued at more than $1.5 million.

PropertyVAULT provides a simple and free way to enable people create an inventory of their valuables, such as bikes, tools, cars, pets and jewellery, so that if they’re stolen, they can be easily identified and returned to its owner. 

Police and the social media community can also search the portal and compare stolen property listings with items offered for sale on online marketplaces or stolen items that have been recovered.

Key aspects of PropertyVAULT:

  • Registration is totally free. 
  • You can record details of your valuables, such as makes, models, marks, serial numbers and photos on a secure online database so that you can conclusively proof the property is yours it it’s stolen and found. If your property goes missing, you can mark it as stolen. 
  • An alert community of “spotters” can easily search the database and match secondhand items advertised for sale online with stolen listings on PropertyVAULT.   
  • Police can also securely access the portal to search and match unclaimed recovered property with PropertyVAULT listings. 
  • As a PropertyVAULT member, you’ll receive tools, advice, online victim support and advocacy to maximise the chance of your property being found and recovered.

PropertyVAULT has also joined forces with DataDot Technology, to offer a range of microdot identification kits which make it tough for thieves to disguise property.
